EMPLOYER GUIDLINES

Reasonable Suspicion Drug Testing

When there’s reasonable suspicion that an employee may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, it’s important to follow a clear process to determine whether testing is required. The supervisor should conduct an interview with the employee to assess the situation and document the conversation. If the supervisor determines that testing is necessary, they can contact us to make arrangements for their arrival.

Here’s How It Works:

  • Supervisor’s Role: The supervisor who places the testing order must drive the employee to the testing site and stay with the technician and employee until the test is complete.
  • Non-Compliance or Hostility: If the employee is non-compliant or hostile during the testing process, the test may be terminated.
  • Company Policies: Our technician is not familiar with specific company policies. Any questions regarding HR processes or company-specific procedures should be directed to the supervisor.

Post-Accident Drug Testing

When an employee is injured in an accident, it’s essential for the employer to ensure that the employee receives the necessary medical attention. After the employee has been treated and released from care, they must complete the drug and alcohol testing. To ensure quick and efficient testing, you can contact us as soon as the employee is cleared by the medical facility so we can prepare for their arrival.

Here’s How It Works:

  • Supervisor’s Responsibility: The supervisor must initiate the testing request and be present when the technician arrives. The supervisor should stay with the technician and the employee until the testing is complete.
  • Safety First: Our priority is safety. If the employee becomes non-compliant or hostile during the testing process, we may terminate the test. If any questions arise about company policies or human resources procedures, our technician will direct the employee to the supervisor for clarification.
  • Refusal of Medical Attention: If the employee refuses medical attention after an accident, we recommend that the supervisor document this conversation prior to contacting us for testing.

By following these guidelines for post-accident and reasonable suspicion testing, you can ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a safe, drug-free workplace. If you need assistance scheduling or coordinating any of these services, don't hesitate to contact us!
